Congressional App Challenge
Every summer and fall, a nation-wide middle school and high school coding competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional App Challenge is an opportunity to foster an interest in coding and a recognition of talent in computer science across the nation, as well as in our Congressional District.
The Congressional App Challenge is open to all middle and high school students in our District. The winning app of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will include the winning apps from all participating districts from around the country. Winning individuals and teams will also be invited to the Spring 2025 #HouseofCode Capitol Hill Reception, and their apps will be featured on the House of Representatives’ website, House.gov.
The following is a summary of the Congressional App Challenge rules:
The competition is open to middle school and high school students. Teachers and/or students should verify their eligibility with the office of Congressman Thanedar. Students may choose to enter in the competition sponsored either by the district they reside in, or the district they attend school in, but not both. Teams of up to four are allowed, but at least half of the team members must reside in-district. Students may also choose to submit their entry individually but may only submit one entry in one district. A student cannot, for example, submit an entry in one district individually, and submit another entry in another district as part of a team.
The full rulebook, information on previous winners and prizes, and the registration portal can be found on the Congressional App Challenge website, CongressionalAppChallenge.us. Entries will be accepted until 12:00pm Eastern Time on October 24th, 2024.
