Congressman Shri Thanedar Introduces Articles of Impeachment Against Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Shri Thanedar (MI-13) introduced two articles of impeachment (H.Res.935) against Donald Trump’s Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, for the following charges:

Article I: Murder and Conspiracy to Murder

Article II: Reckless and Unlawful Mishandling of Classified Information

"Pete Hegseth has been using the United States military to extrajudicially assassinate people without evidence of any crime,” said Congressman Thanedar. “Former military attorneys have come out and asserted that his conduct constitutes war crimes. We cannot allow his reprehensible conduct to continue, which is why I have filed these articles to impeach him.”

Thanedar’s articles follow a recent report detailing Hegseth’s conduct as Secretary of Defense. Hegseth’s alleged actions include issuing orders to “kill everybody” onboard a small vessel without evidence of any wrongdoing by those targeted, and then ordering a follow-up strike to kill two survivors who were clinging to life on the side of the boat after the first strike was launched.
