Elizabeth Warren: Senator Warren, Representatives García, Norcross, Beatty, Jayapal, Lead Colleagues to Urge Biden Administration to Support Aid for Crisis-Hit Countries

Sen. Elizabeth Warren and others led key representatives, including Rep. Shri Thanedar (MI-13), to urge the Biden administration to back a new allocation of Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) from the IMF, aiming to support developing nations' recovery from multiple crises and safeguard U.S. manufacturing jobs without incurring any costs to the U.S. government. The lawmakers champion an allocation of at least $650 billion in SDRs, emphasizing the zero expense to the U.S. budget and its proven effectiveness during the global pandemic in 2021. This move aims to stabilize global economies, preserve U.S. jobs, and offer vital relief to struggling nations.
