Congressman Shri Thanedar is deeply committed to serving those who have served our country. Recognizing the unique challenges that veterans face, he has co-sponsored a range of legislation aimed at improving the quality of life for our military personnel, both active and retired. For example, he co-sponsored the Veteran Entrepreneurship Training Act of 2023, which enhances the Boots to Business Program administered by the Small Business Administration. This program provides vital entrepreneurship training to individuals, including veterans and active members of the Armed Forces, setting them on a path to financial stability and success after their service.

Beyond the transition to civilian life, Congressman Thanedar is also focused on the financial and health-related issues that veterans encounter. He supports the Major Richard Star Act, which allows combat-disabled uniformed services retirees with fewer than 20 years of service to concurrently receive veterans' disability compensation and retired pay without reduction. In addition, he has backed the Driver Reimbursement Increase for Veteran Equity Act or the DRIVE Act, aimed at increasing the mileage reimbursement rate for beneficiaries traveling for vocational rehabilitation, counseling, examination, treatment, or care at Department of Veterans Affairs facilities. Lastly, he co-sponsored Correcting Guam’s History in the PACT Act, expanding eligibility for service-connection for diseases associated with herbicide agent exposure between 1958 and 1962. Through this comprehensive approach to veteran care, Congressman Thanedar is steadfast in his commitment to honoring and uplifting our nation’s heroes.
