"DOE and SBA Research Act" Advances to Senate, Marking a Milestone in Collaborative Innovation Efforts
Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Shri Thanedar (MI-13) announced the passage of the "DOE and SBA Research Act" (H.R. 4669), on which he served as the lead Democratic sponsor. The bill encourages a new area of innovation and collaboration between the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Small Business Administration (SBA).
"The 'DOE and SBA Research Act' represents a critical step towards fostering a cooperative relationship between the DOE and SBA, aimed at enhancing our nation's research and development capabilities," stated Congressman Thanedar. The act, which seeks to formalize a cooperative framework for joint research and development activities, has been designed to leverage the strengths of both the DOE and SBA. By promoting the inclusion of small business concerns in these endeavors, the legislation aims to ensure that the fruits of innovation are accessible and beneficial to all segments of our economy. H.R. 4669 progresses to the Senate, where it has been referred to the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
