Rep. Shri Thanedar Expresses Support for the Departments of State and Treasury Redesignating the Houthis as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist
Washington, DC - January 18, 2023 - Congressman Shri Thanedar (MI-13) today issued the following statement in support of the Departments of State and Treasury redesignating the Houthis as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist:
“I applaud today's reaffirmation of the Houthis as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist. It is a testament to our ongoing commitment to combat terrorism and maintain global security. This redesignation, which I have ardently advocated for, will help hold the Houthis accountable for their continued threats to maritime safety and regional stability. As we maintain pressure on the Houthis to cease their attacks, it's crucial that our strategies also safeguard humanitarian channels to support the Yemeni people. I commend the balanced approach of the Department of State and Department of the Treasury, reinforcing our nation's resolve against terrorism while upholding our humanitarian commitments.”
