Michele Hodges, Mayor of Grosse Pointe Park:

“The tax-paying citizens of the City of Grosse Pointe Park have benefited greatly from the partnership with Congressman Shri Thanedar.

The $1.6M of Community Project Funding he secured on our behalf directly impacts the bottom line and empowers the City to make urgent infrastructure improvements that will help prevent the catastrophic flooding that has plagued our City in the past.

Congressman Thanedar listened to our needs, and delivered in an impactful way. We couldn’t be more grateful.”

Alfred Brock, Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Wayne:

“Securing funding for the replacement of lead pipes in the City of Wayne was critical for allowing the work to be done.  The alternatives were to leave the lead pipes in the ground or take 20 years to carry out the replacements.  By securing this funding, these pipes will be removed, and lead-free water will be provided to the children and families of the City of Wayne.  We are grateful for Representative Thanedar’s timely help in securing this funding.”

Mary Beth McGowan, Great Lakes Water Authority:

"The continued renewal of water and wastewater assets is critical to building resiliency within the regional system. Rep. Thanedar understands this important principle and was instrumental in securing nearly $2 million in federal funding for wastewater projects within his district. We are grateful for his support."

Jennifer Hayes, Invest Detroit Foundation:

“We want to thank Congressman Thanedar for his support of Invest Detroit and our clients," said Dave Blaszkiewicz, president & CEO of Invest Detroit. "This award will fill critical funding gaps in the local ecosystem and help us further achieve our goals of equitable economic development investment and capital to support the revitalization of Detroit neighborhoods.”

Robert McCraight, Mayor of Romulus:

“Where the state has made a significant investment in our road system in recent years, local municipalities such as Romulus are severely underfunded when it comes to funding being available to repair and maintain our neighborhood streets. The distribution of funds using the Act 51 legislation clearly does not work for communities such as Romulus. We have to work together to improve the quality of life for our residents by repairing our neighborhood streets as well. Not just major roads to service the masses. I greatly appreciate the efforts of Congressman Thanedar in securing much-needed funds that will go directly into repairing our neighborhood streets and offer some much-needed relief to the residents of Romulus.”

Tiffany Graydon, Director of Workforce Development & Education:

This appropriation allows the division to provide education and training to some of the most vulnerable individuals in our region and connect the unique populations we serve to progressive career opportunities through screening, supportive services, upskilling, credentialing, career placement, and retention services. “

Rebecca Curtis, Chief Bridge Engineer MDOT:

“This project will provide safer pedestrian and bicycle traffic connecting a neighborhood across I-94, underscoring MDOT’s Mission of ‘Serving and Connecting People, Communities, and the Economy through Transportation’ and supporting the broader community’s move to different modes of transportation.  In addition, these bridges will include innovative materials designed to allow the structures to have a service life exceeding 100 years, with less required maintenance, leading to less disruption for the public. The new Lemay Street bridge is designed with narrow vehicular lanes to promote slower travel speeds in this residential neighborhood as well as provide increased space for bicycle and pedestrian facilities.”
